Being mesmerized with the thought of developing her own native place Bahadarpur, Ms. Nileema Mishra, prestigious “Rammon Magsaysay and Padmashree” awardee, founded “Bhagini Nivedita Gramin Vidyan Niketan” in the year 2000 in Bahadarpur, Jalgaoon. The organization has been registered under Indian Govt.’s Society’s Registration Act, 1860. It is a nonpolitical and nonreligious organization. The organization is mainly working in Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik districts. Major focus of the organization is to improve social-economic status of the society by helping people to help themselves. The area where BNGVN is working is a draught prone area and farming is the main occupation of the villagers. At times there are no rains for consecutive 3-4 years affecting farming badly, leading to suicides. In such circumstances, efforts are taken for creating employment opportunities for women as they need to come forward and support their families.
